Form 4868 moves your 2025 Form 1040 filing date to October 15, 2026—it does not extend the April payment due date. Unpaid tax generally accrues interest; a ~90% paid-by-due-date path in the Form 4868 instructions can limit failure-to-pay during the extension, but interest may still apply.
