PLLC & Professional Corporation Formation

Licensed professionals — CPAs, physicians, dentists, attorneys, engineers — often must use a PLLC or professional corporation and register it with their licensing board. We handle both sides.

What is included

  • Licensing board approval or registration where required
  • Articles of organization / incorporation for the professional entity
  • Name rules for professional firms
  • Ownership restrictions review
  • Tax election and payroll set-up

Two regulators

A professional entity answers to the Secretary of State and to the licensing board. In North Carolina, for example, a PLLC of licensed professionals generally needs the board’s certificate of registration before the Secretary of State accepts the filing. We have taken our own firm through this process.

Common questions

Can an unlicensed person own part of the practice?

Usually not; most boards limit ownership to licensees. We check your profession’s rules before filing.
